MY ART @ THE WATERMAN’S BALL
I am so stoked to finally be apart of the WATERMAN’S BALL this year. It is an event I have always wanted to contribute too. I have 2 of my one-of-a-kind original block prints for auction, as well as a mounted giclee reproduction of “SETTING THE FIN”
The annual Waterman’s Weekend has served as the main fundraising source for the SIMA Environmental Fund since its inception. Waterman’s Weekend is a two-day fundraising event held that exclusively benefits the SIMA Environmental Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that awards grants to various environmental groups based on their dedication to preserving and protecting the world’s oceans, beaches and waves. The Waterman’s Ball and Auction reigns as the main event, which not only allows the surf industry and friends of the environment to raise money for important oceanic causes, but also honor and celebrate those making significant contributions in the industry with the prestigious annual Waterman of the Year, Environmentalist of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards.
RENNY YATER IS STOKED!
So the Sacred Craft Expo was said to be an excellent show this spring. Unbelievable talents showing off their newest creations… Art by some very talented artist… Tons of people milling thought the show giving feedback, sharing stories, and planning their next rides. I was fortunate enough to have 2 of my pieces there where Renny Yater was given one for being the honoree( pic above) and Carl Ekstrom and his HYDRODYNAMICA crew where given the other for “best in show” with his asymmetrical shape. With live webcasts, facebook updates, text blast, and updates through emails, I felt like i was practically there. Hope i can swing the next one. thanks again Scott.

THE INNOCENCE OF A CHILD
So there was a day last week… super nice out, beautiful weather, with tons of time to till during Brea (my step daughter’s) spring break. She runs up to me like she does often and is like…. ” CAN WE PAINTTT!?!?!” So very excited. We go into my studio where her easel is next to mine, grab as much paint as we can and put it in the yard, and start.
The beauty in the moment is the pure innocence of her in the process… the only thing that matters to her in life at that very moment, is painting her swing set with as many “pretty colors” as she possibly can. Always taking a glance at what i was doing, she gets excited and wants to keep going. I think we all often get caught up with life a little too much, worry about the wrong things, and don’t nurture the parts of our life that are important. I wish we can all paint like a kid sometimes, myself especially.
I love my Brea

SACRED CRAFT APRIL 10th & 11th
So i am very excited to say that my artwork has made it safely out to Ventura, California for this year’s Sacred Craft expo…. and man what a killer show its going to be. Live shapings and tribute to the master’s shape off, short film festival by my friend Cyrus Sutton and Korduroy gang, tons of shapers showing off the future of the industry, and dont forget Rob Havassy’s Surf Story Project on display. After chatting with Scott of the Sacred Craft I shipped out 2 of my pieces for display one piece of which is in my new series “The Art in Shaping”. If you in the area its a must see.

I am stoked to be working on my new series “the ART in SHAPING” and am looking forward to finishing this piece to start on the next chapter of this project.
