SHIP IN THE NIGHT – 15″ x 48″ mixed media
We often feel alone sometimes, like a ship in the night feeling their way through the dark. But the sun does rise, the lights are turned off, and we realize there is a vast ocean for the sailing.

Patagonia Cardiff Event- Castles in the Sky from www.KORDUROY.tv on Vimeo.
Take a walk around Cardiff with Dan Malloy and watch some excerpts from Taylor Steele’s new surf film, Castles in the Sky. Dan hopped the train down to Patagonia Cardiff where he introduced the film on a summer evening to about 550 folks. A trip Dan took to Iceland was featured in the film.

How rad does this movie look. When you put Keith Malloy, Tyler Warren, and G Love together for a road trip into Mexico, imagine the chemistry of talents that on this trip. I would love to one day make it Baja for a bit. Here is the trailer directed by Tyler Manson. I smell an east coast premiere in the future.
I am so stoked to finally be apart of the WATERMAN’S BALL this year. It is an event I have always wanted to contribute too. I have 2 of my one-of-a-kind original block prints for auction, as well as a mounted giclee reproduction of “SETTING THE FIN”
The annual Waterman’s Weekend has served as the main fundraising source for the SIMA Environmental Fund since its inception. Waterman’s Weekend is a two-day fundraising event held that exclusively benefits the SIMA Environmental Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that awards grants to various environmental groups based on their dedication to preserving and protecting the world’s oceans, beaches and waves. The Waterman’s Ball and Auction reigns as the main event, which not only allows the surf industry and friends of the environment to raise money for important oceanic causes, but also honor and celebrate those making significant contributions in the industry with the prestigious annual Waterman of the Year, Environmentalist of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards.
I am stoked to be profiled in the latest update on LIQUID SALT…
Liquid Salt™ aims to celebrate surfing for what it is: a joyful union between the surfer and the ocean.
Part blog and part magazine, its premise is to give voice to those people—surfers, shapers, writers, artists, filmmakers and photographers—who quietly keep surf culture alive. Their mission is to highlight the rich, vibrant diversity of the worldwide surfing community.
I am very stoked to be apart of the SWITCHFOOT BRO AM again this year. I have donated a very limited one-of-a-kind piece for their auction night.
The Switchfoot Bro-Am surf contest and concert returns to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas on Saturday, June 26, 2010. An annual event that was created to give back to the San Diego community while benefiting a local children’s charity through funds raised at a pre-event auction night set for Friday, June 25, as well as from vendors on the beach day-of, sponsorships, and an after-party at the Belly Up Tavern.
The 6th Annual Switchfoot Bro-Am presented by Hurley will benefit the San Diego and Oceanside chapters of StandUp For Kids, a national nonprofit volunteer outreach organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of at-risk, homeless, and street kids. (www.standupforkids.org

I love listening to people who have taken their gifts, smarts, education and apply it to the surf culture. I came across this video on Korduroy TV and I had to repost it. Here is a guy, Mike Sheldrake who taking his ideas and really making it happen… cant wait to get my kit.
I am very excited to announce that I have been asked to take part in the movie BOARDROOM by Markus Davids. They are using 5 of pieces from my “ART in SHAPING” series and showcasing them amongst interviews with the greats surfers/ shaping legends in the industry. Being someone who loves and admires the craft of handing boards, can only dream of this opportunity. From the trailers to updates of the people being interview, this is setting up to be an excellent film paying respect to all of those that paved the way…. hand crafting a movement.
